Venice 2017
When choosing a school project my class decided to go for Venice, which included several papers, ones of which I had to write with a friend, and naturally a visit where every group had to organize some sort of event fitting their paper. That was 7 years ago.
Everyone who knows me soon learns that I have this weird fascination with Italy, only getting stronger with several visits to Rome and Florence and slowly rubbing off to my family as well. So imagine my joy when I convinced not only my parents but also my sister that Venice was worth a visit too.
After visiting the floating city in November of 2016 with my parents, I came back with them and my sister for another look around, addind a day to our travel plans. The new Disney movie "Moana", called "Vaiana" in Europe, came out here around Christmas and especially the song "How far I'll go" made me crave to go back to Venice and spend some time on the sea. Sometimes a few notes of the song or even a random intro of the anime "One Piece" coming up on my iPod would be enough to cause my heart to feel a little tug. It didn't take long until my sister and I decided to visit Venice for our planned "ladies-holiday", although I am sure she just gave in to my whining that I wanted to go back. In any case, when we told our parents and asked Mum if she wanted to come as well, to which she replied that she got a taste for Venice now and would gladly come along. To all our surprise my Dad produced the cutest pout and said: "If anyone would ask me, I would go there again as well."
I was delighted! Don't think I am a bad daughter cause we didn't ask him in the first place: I just didn't think that he would want to visit the same place in that short amount of time. Standing corrected I booked a hotel and flight for us to go and thankfully March came around much faster than I could have hoped. On my way to the airport I was giggling with tiredness and joy for I couldn't wait to spend some well earned time off work and quality time with my family as well.
