For the upcoming Vienna Comic Con in November 2017 I decided to cosplay one of my favourite anime-characters: Roronoa Zoro from "One Piece".

"I decided" is perhaps the wrong description, let's say I was dared.

When I was showing my first drawing results to my best friend, I suddenly remembered and mentioned browsing Pinterest and discovering Zoro's earrings on a website, which made me incredibly happy. She then emmited a loud and joyous gasp and said: "You should totally cosplay Zoro as a girl next!"

Keep in mind that I haven't done any serious cosplaying yet, except for doning a flannel shirt, putting in some black sclera-contacts and calling myself "Demon Dean", which can hardly be seen as any serious effort towards the topic.

Anyways, I laughed it off, said it would be cool but that I probably wouldn't be able to pull it off. But it wouldn't let go. The idea popped into my head more often than I care to admit and I started browsing the internet, looking at other cosplays and eventually ended up ordering the earrings and a few days later his swords as well.

The most positive thing about the whole experience is that one of my colleagues in the office totally caught on to the whole idea of me dressing up. Usually people shrug things like this off as some crazy-nerdy stuff that I do, but don't want any further involvment in it whatsoever. Not her! She helped me pick a suitable pair of shoes, look at different wigs and ways to dye my hair - even gave me her red baby-sling, which she had used for both of her children, cause she realized that the colour was perfect for the costume.

So with my new-found ally I'm on the journey of bringing Fem!Zoro to live... let's see how well that goes!
