John Winchester's Journal
Excerpts from 1991:
June 22nd:
Checked into the motel in Missouri yesterday. Will have a look at the case in the evening. Sammy accepted Emily as family the minute he saw her - although she's older he looks after her like a little sister. She still doesn't speak. Not sure how Dean feels about her - he's reserved, as always.
June 25th:
Dean got a rather nasty cold - he was in bed all day. I gave him my bed so he won't infect the other two as well. As soon as I finished the job we'll take some time off - maybe go to Bobby's place for a while. Em wakes up a couple of times at night, screaming and crying. Took me over 30 minutes to calm her down again. Giving her my jacket seems to help.
June 26th:
Talked to the Clarks - their house is haunted, that's for sure. Will look into it a bit more tonight, should be nothing more but an average spirit. Sammy reads stories to Em cause she won't talk to him. Dean is very quiet. Still not fully recovered.
June 28th:
Found the grave, burned the remains, the Clarks reported back that the voices and apparitions stopped. Will stay another night just to make sure it's really gone. When I came back tonight the kids were all sleeping in Dean's bed - his fever got worse again. Em didn't wake up tonight.
June 29th:
Drove for a couple of hours. Ellen called that there might be a case 2 states over. Kids are sleeping in the backseat. Em woke up after about 2 hours on the road, screaming and confused. Dean pulled her closed and she fell asleep again - hugging Dean and Sammy holding her hand. Took a picture that I'll leave with Ellen. Will drive to Bobby's place first, Dean's stil not fully recovered. Will do job on my own.
August 2nd:
Picked the kids up again. Dean's better. Emilys nightmares stopped since she's allowed to sleep next to him. She talks a bit now - they get along very well. Sammy still reads his favourite books to her.
August 4th:
Another case popped up in Michigan. Dean's packing already and instructs Em on the first and most important rules. He's a good teacher.
